| Vigueirat Marshes At the heart of the large wild expanses of Camargue is a palette of varied landscapes, a concentration of millions of birds, the largest protected reed bed in Camargue, 4 herds of bulls and camarguese horses... For your enjoyment... 15 km of paths with observatories, stilts, routes to discover by foot or by horse-drawn carriage, for young and old.
The Friends of the Marshes of Vigueirat, associated with WWF France, the French Coastline Conservancy and the town of Arles, are technical coordinators of a program European Life promise: this project aims to make compatible the protection of an exceptional natural heritage site (of 1000 ha) and the development of an ambitious ecotourism project. It must sensitize different audiences to the eco-responsibility problematic. In 2007, the Marshes of Vigueirat committed to put in place an educational path on the water, to make 'soft' transport (such as carriages and electric vehicles) available to visitors, and to improve the thermal insulation of its buildings.
Different activities are proposed for nature discovery in the Camargue :
- Showing the area to a wide public - Environmental education for pupils - Training for students and professionals. |
